Started road riding season record early 2 days ago on dry roads. Have to use slightly more force on bars than on the higher SMC bars but not a big issue.

Tested out the screen for touring and it certainly helped as it was only 5deg outside. On track it's no good as it's hard to get your body down on the straights, the screen is to high and close to body.

The bar was more a track thing..but actually worked so well I'll try it out some more and maybe keep it as a permanent solution. It's still not that low, even with slightly bent arms you sit straight upright.

Looked into rerouting throttle cable to make it return properly but it worked out just doings some simple adjustments.

Wasn't quite happy with OE bars, too high for track riding so bought new handlebars. Plan was keeping it horisontal with ends bent backwards as intended. But a bit of trail and error and I ended up with the bends pointing more or less straight down. Position is not that different from the Superduke I think. Actually feels surprisingly good, lots more weight on the front but still comfortable. And should be much easier getting into race tuck on track.

Not sure about the looks though...but did get more used to it after a little while. Combination of supermoto and streetfighter...should be a Superfighter then.

    Thanks :-)

"If you are using the SMC fork legs in the Enduro triple clamp, you will get about 10 mm more trail as in the SMC. How is the handling?"
I think it works great. The head is shaking a bit even with the steering damper on max but doesn't bother me. Turns very easy and quickly. But I'm more of a "ride what you've got" than "need another click on rebound" type. When back on my Superduke it felt like a barge to turn...which it definitly isn't

"Do you change the fork legs each time when you convert your bike from Enduro to Supermotard and vice versa? "
Well, if in a hurry and for road use it's quicker keeping the enduro forks/brakes, but then would have to change the brake disc. But changing the fork legs is just 8 bolts and the brakes is just 2 bolts for the lever (have to take the calipper off the forks either way) so not that much work.

"Wouldn't it be easier to keep the Enduro fork and brake caliper and have a special caliper support crafted for the 320 mm brake disk?"
The SMC brakes are better, actually it was more important to me than the fork legs. Guesss it would help with a larger diameter disc but believe the 320 disc is to thick for the enduro calipper? And even at the same diameter I believe the SMC calipper makes a difference. Also the SMC forks are a bit longer and stiffer so makes it a bit less nervous and should handle better.

Yes, it's me, White-smc. Just had my roadracing license and had both my Superduke R and 690 for my first practice. But mechanical problems with the SDR had me riding the 690 for most of the 2 days. Was worried the 690 was way to slow but a pretty technical track so passed as many bikes as passed me. Not bad for a 654ccm single cylinder bike with road legal tyres against sportsbikes with slicks. Actually I'm shocked how fast it was even on track so wondering if I really need the Superduke at all!

Have a race series in Norway called supermono cup which (obviously) is for single cylinder bikes and KTMs 690 bikes are used a lot, so planning a couple of races. To old and heavy to win of course, but just do it for fun :grins:

Just bought the 690ER last fall with very limited experience on loose surface but we had lots of fun on gravel roads (riding outside roads is forbidden in Norway). But what has been REALLY fun is riding on snow with enduro studs! See see VIDEO and pics below. Not fast compared to guys withe mx and enduro background but still good fun.

Not a regular member, but check in from time to time. My german is rubbish so you'll have to do with english. Sorry if repeating what someone else have said but have 690ER and got hold of SMC brakes, fork legs and wheels. Thought it would be a direct swith till discovered the tripple clamps are wider for the SMC. But had 6mm machined off the inside of the left fork leg and the disc fits perfect in the calipper without the spacer and the wheel is just a few mm to much to the right (nothing you really notice). BUT also had to grind some material off the calipper so it no longer interferes with the spokes. And had to make a bushing (piece of pipe) to use the SMC axel as it's too long (and the enduro too short).

And the result is fantastic, had it on a race track and it worked great. Very glad had the SMC brakes, worked well (though not as good as the superduke naturally).

Actually a fairly quick swith as have complete front brakes so swap the entire system with hose and levers so no bleeding necessary.

My German is pretty bad (understand most of it though) so excuse me for sticking to English. The problem is that the cans are so tight that you can't get a (legal) license plate between them...so it ends up below/behind anyway. So I ended up just modifying the original tail, just shortening it as much as possible.

In case anyone else should be intersted, this is what I did: http://www.superduke.net/forum…php?t=7591&highlight=tail
