I'm quite sure they've replaced the starter (Anlasser) but I'm really dissapointed that KTM asked my dealer not to tell anything to anyone.

My 1190 has been standing with my dealer for two months now. I told him and KTM-headquarters that I didn't want my bike back till the starting problems were solved. The bike only has 1300Km's. Today I have received a phone-call that KTM has found a solution and my bike was fixed. And it truelly is fixed !! Starts without hesitation now, no problems whatsoever :-) Just go to your dealer and demand a solution. My dealer didn't want to tell me what was fixed, supposed to be an (expensive) secret.. :-/

I'm having the same problem. My KTM 1190 is always standing in the garage (+- 15°) with the charger connected but she doesn't want to start at once. Always coughing for about a minute or so. My belgian dealer has had contact with KTM headquarters. They've confirmed the problem and are looking for a solution. On 08/01/2014 they wil contact my dealer again to solve the problem. Most probably they will change the starting engine, I've been told. MfG

I've had the exact same problem with my Adventure. Only 400 km's. The dealer had to dismember the complete motorcycle.
